Chambourcin
Hunter Valley, New South Wales
Ripe mulberries with a fresh finish
$45 each
A varietal that Calais has championed for more than 30 years, it's never in cellar door for long!
Chambourcin is a deep coloured and aromatic wine known as a “teinturier” grape, meaning that its juice is pink or red instead of clear like most other red grapes.
This 2019 is the traditional Calais style, featuring soft tannin structure and bold flavours.
Aromas of cherries & blackcurrant complement the earthiness, spice & dried fruit on the nose. This enhances the stark contrast to the upfront palate, showcasing generous ripe mulberries and vibrant forest fruits. Hints of fresh fennel and subtle cleansing acidity create the distinctive features of a Hunter Chambourcin, allowing this wine to be served chilled on a summer day.
Our Estate Range of Wines are boutique wines for every day drinking.
